Bye, Bye, Birdie!

Do you have a child who enjoys performing and has a sincere interest in learning about theatre and improving his/her acting, singing and/or dancing skills? Is your child motivated to work hard, strive for excellence, and have a lot of fun being part of the magic of putting on a musical production? If your child is that student, this extraordinary program is for her or him!

      Through a series of mini-workshops, your child will gain experience in the following aspects of musical theater: (1) dance and movement; (2) music/voice technique; (3) acting/character development; and (4) costume design and creation (Your son/daughter will make/create/find/buy some or all of his/her costumes).

       Musical Theater Workshop will be producing the great BYE, BYE BIRDIE this summer. 
 
      Three performances will be held: Thursday, July 30st, 7:30 p.m.; Friday, July 31st at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, August August 1st at 2:00 p.m. in the Darien High School Auditorium.

      The class fee includes two tickets to the performance of one's choice. Students will be asked to help sell tickets to the performances (admission is $8 per ticket) as well as place posters to advertise the play around town.

      This is an extremely popular offering, so register early! Enrollment will be limited and based on a first come/first served basis in the following age categories, working as much as possible toward an even split between boys and girls in each age category:

  MU004A - BOYS - ages 10,11
  MU004B - GIRLS - ages 10,11
  MU004C - BOYS - ages 12, 13
  MU004D - GIRLS - ages 12,13
  MU004E - BOYS - ages 14,15
  MU004F - GIRLS - ages 14,15

      Any additions or subtractions to these enrollment criteria are strictly up to the MTW staff. NOTE: Some students may be asked to stay an extra hour as the performance dates draw close. Parents will be notified  in advance of these requests. Parents may also be required to purchase some or all of their child's costume. **It is important that students be present for the first week of the program as auditions for parts will take place during the first week.

      There will be no class on Friday, July 31st, due to the Saturday matinee performance on August 1st.
