MMS Reading/Writing Workshop (Gr 6-9)

(Entering 6 - 9) Help your middle school student complete his/her summer reading and improve as a writer this summer! Teacher-directed discussions and activities will enable your child to get a better understanding of the materials and promote enjoyment of the books they are reading. Reading strategies and vocabulary development learned in Reader's Workshop will help strengthen skills that will be helpful in all content areas next year. Students will also strengthen their writing skills, which are vital for academic success. Students will learn the six traits of good writing and engage in a variety of writing activities. Students in this class will receive instruction in grammar, punctuation, and usage within the context of their work and mini-lessons. They will then apply their knowledge to writing projects. This course is not applicable for high school credit. ($10 materials fee included)
