Improv and Imagination
Ages 8-12
Improv is a type of theater that has no script and everything is performed right at the moment! It's easy and it's a great way to learn about collaborating with friends and the basics of acting or theater in general! Working with the basics of improv, movement, and storytelling, we will make the classroom a stage for students interested in the performing arts! We will touch on the basics of improv using fun and interactive theater games and exercises. We will also read short plays and dive into their story using movement and other forms of artistic communication and imagination. Students will create their own scenes to present to the class as well. Drama is a synthesis of learning and communicating through expression, movement, gesture, and collaboration. By using drama and improv to learn about respecting others and ourselves, students will create a space for unique ideas and friendships that they can pass on to their parents or friends.
