Students entering grades 7-12

Let's explore the creative process that is unique to each one of us by using a free-form type of artistry to express ourselves. Art Journaling is about the process, not the outcome! Don't worry about how well you can draw or paint, your journal is the place for you to let loose, experiment and explore with shape, line, color and words. Begin by learning some interesting and fun layering techniques and trying out some new art supplies. Then let your imagination take you where you want to go, or use an open-ended prompt to help you get started. Art Journaling is considered a form of self-care, a way to use art to quiet our minds so that we can connect with what is going on within ourselves. The take-away from this class is the beginning of more than just a journal, but a life-long tool to help you grow, let go and make space for new ideas and thoughts. Students should bring a journal with thick paper that can absorb paint and take lots of working on to class. Examples include a small Moleskin journal or this Strathmore tan-paged journal.
